Golf Instruction Book: How to Find the Best For You
If you dream of playing golf someday, far away on exotic greens, with different people, enjoying the company of some of the best golfers in the world, the first thing you need to do is learn how to play golf with a golf instruction book. A few decades ago, learning golf required an instructor and good golf facilities, both of which can be extremely expensive. Now, if you ever need instruction on golf, a golf instruction book might just be your best friend.
Books of golf tips are ideal for amateurs to pick up the basic principles and concepts of the game without digging too deep into their wallets. Though advanced training will require a coach and some good equipment, a golf instruction book is good way for beginners who want to practice in their own backyard to start in the game.
One of the challenges with a golf instructor is that quite frankly, they are hard to find as there are only a very few of them. In addition, you have the challenges of scheduling your time to match the instructors. The biggest worry of all is the tremendous expense involved in all this. For the average beginner, who is not even sure if he or she is going take the game seriously, a golf instruction book is a good starting point.
Golf instruction books are relatively cheap, provide a good level of know-how and instruction about the basics of golf and are available just about anywhere. Walk over to your nearest book store and you will find a considerable number of books offering instruction on golf.
There are many beginner golf books that offer good advice for beginners. Another option is to read a book written by one of the great golfers like Tiger Woods to get a master’s perspective of the game. Apart from golf instruction books, there are also plenty of other books about the history of golf, about golf courses, about great players and their techniques that give truckloads of information about golf and its finer points.
Such books are ideally suited for golf aficionados and fans who have never played golf, but would still like to know the history about the game.
Of course, the downside to having so many lesson books available to you, is that it becomes really easy to pick the wrong book. Such an experience can really kill your enthusiasm and motivation to play the game. So here are a few key points to keep in mind while shopping for a golf instruction book.
First, be sure of what you are looking for. We all have different learning styles and it is important to know what your learning style is. This way you can pick an instruction book written by an author who presents the lessons in a way that you can easily understand them. Do not buy a golf lesson book just because you want to learn more about a certain player or because a certain player supposedly wrote it. There is no sense in buying a golf instruction book if you want to know about players. If that is your goal, buy a golf book about the player themselves.
Second, while buying a book of golf tips, look for well-known authors and top 100 teachers. A bit of searching on the net will tell you what golf instruction books are popular.
Third, make sure the book that you are buying is written for a player of your current skill level. A book about advanced golf instruction will only frustrate a beginner golfer or a higher handicap golfer instead of improving it. Again, to find the best golf tips book for you, research is the key.
Keep in mind, the first step is always the most important. Make sure that you do you research and buy the right golf book for you and your current skill level and watch your game improve.
Three Keys To Increase Distance With Your Golf Swing
For many golfers, a big concern is how to hit the ball farther. Typically, a good swing with solid fundamentals will naturally allow you to hit the ball far provided you have good strength. There are a few important keys that you can specifically work on to hit it farther. The first key I recommend is having good angles in your setup or swing. A good setup will have good knee flex and a correct bend from the hips with the weight on the balls of your feet. A good setup is a critical component to not only swinging more on the correct path but also hitting it farther. You want to have a good shoulder turn on the backswing where your shoulders turn a full 90 degrees. This will allow you to swing the golf club over your shoulder and maintain good angles at the top of your backswing as well. From there, you’ll be in a powerful position to swing back down through the golf ball.
Second key is swing speed. You want to make sure you are swinging fastest at the point of impact. Many golfers make the mistake of rushing their backswing, making it too fast and then from their it is forced to slow down coming into the golf ball when it should be speeding up at this point. One key on timing of your swing is the backswing should be three times as long as the downswing. Tour players were studied and it was recorded that they all have this correct tempo where their backswing all are three times as long as their downswings.
Make sure not to try to swing too hard from the top of your backswing. Often times golfers try to hit the ball too hard resulting in lots of problems when hitting the golf ball. You want to have a nice and smooth transition and allow the swing speed to increase as you are nearing the impact position. This will maximize your chances of hitting the ball longer and straighter. Third key is creating lag in your swing. You do this by hinging your wrists in the backswing which allows you to build up “leverage”. Then on the downswing your hands will actually lead into the golf ball before the club hits the ball. With the hands slightly ahead at impact, you’ll be assured of a solid strike which will make the golf ball travel farther.
